As a child I really wanted to get into radio controlled model airplanes - my Dad had built them and I think I had got the bug from him. Trouble is, when I most wanted to get into the hobby I was too young - then I lost interest for a while and the dream seemed to die
I got back into it a couple of years ago and as it turns out, flying radio controlled model airplanes is every bit as exciting as I had anticipated. Radio controlled cars and boats are boring in comparison - but with radio controlled model airplanes, things are different. A model airplane kit is fast, powerful, and dangerous. It can (obviously)take off and fly. With little practice, you can learn to do loops, barrel rolls, dives, and other amazing tricks. Although it is possible to crash and damage a model airplane, most of the beginners models can be fixed pretty easily.
If you have ever wanted to fly a model airplane, I highly recommend trying it. A lot of grown-ups feel silly being in public playing with a kids toy, but you might as well get it out of your system. After all, if you have the fever, you know what it's like. If you never got to use radio controlled model airplanes as a kid, now is your chance. Why not join a club of like minded individuals and go out on a Sunday morning to fly them - go on, you know you want to!

Disney Movies
The Disney movies that my daughter sees today are very different from the ones I saw when I was a child. I remember seeing Bambi when I was in the fourth grade at school, and I was troubled by what I saw for a very long time. Most children are extra sensitive, and I don’t know that I should not have seen that movie at that age. It’s not that most children that age cannot handle such a movie, it was just that I couldn’t. I remember going home and crying for hours about what I had seen in that movie.
I understand now that I am a mom, that I have to keep an eye on what my daughter watches. This means that I have to know what she is going to see before she can see it. For the most part, any parent can trust Disney movies, as they are always of good quality and have a good message, but some are not meant for the younger crowd. Parents often ignore that and children see things they may not be emotionally old enough to deal with just yet.
It is almost impossible to...

More Tips on Confidence Building for Kids
Since it is so crucial that kids grow up believing in themselves, I have more tips for you.
1) Do not criticize. Criticism can greatly diminish confidence. It is easy for parents to say "See, I told you not to do that and now you are dirty all over." We need to remind ourselves constantly that everytime we diminish their self-esteem, it will take us a lot more effort to restore it. Or even worse, we leave it as it is and the child will hesitate to do new things in future. If you have nothing good to say, it is better not to say anything. Talk to children about their mistake in a positive way.
2) What is your first reaction when you see your child in your room full of lipstick on his lips and all your lipsticks are spoilt? Will you start screaming at him? Most of us would. Then you would have fallen into their trap. What should you do then? Make them clean up the mess, even if it takes half the day. The child have to pay for the lipsticks by either not having a new toy or no Macdonalds for the...
