Swing Set Backyard

Do it yourself backyard work has always been one of my favorite things about spring. Whether I am adding new swing set accessories to my daughter's playground, working in the garden, building myself a tool shed, or doing some other activity, I love the chance to get out into the nice cool, sunny weather and enjoy myself. After being cooped up all winter, who wouldn't? Nonetheless, this year I had an unusually ambitious activity. We needed a new backyard swing set. Apparently, the swing set backyard had had to put up with one too many winters. It was old and decrepit, and it looked so frail that I didn't really trust it to support my daughter. Although it was my first project of the year, I was looking forward to building new backyard swing sets.

Swingset backyard structures are really pretty easy to build. As long as the chain is attached well, the frame is sturdy, and there are no obstacles nearby, a swing set backyard structure can be set up by barely virtually anyone. This year, however, I wanted to make something special. My daughter has always wanted a tree swings, so I decided to...

Organize Finances With A Monthly Budget Planner

If you feel you are not as responsible with money as you should be it can be even worse when you multiply it up when you have a family. If you want to gain control of your family finances then a monthly budget planner would be a good idea.

Read any advice from personal finance experts, and every one of them would say that the most important thing to do is use a monthly budget planner to track inflows and outflows of cash. Doing this will help you identify areas where there's a bit of room to cut corners and save money. There are a bunch of free monthly budget planners available online, so I pick one, print it out and start to use it as a family.

Fill out the monthly budget planner as best you can, maybe using old receipts if necessary. Come up with average expenses for electricity, gas, water, groceries, cable, cell phone, insurance, and rent if they are billed more regularly than monthly. Check you paycheck stubs to calculate your average monthly income, and compare with your expenses. If showing a deficit identify areas you can cut back.

The beauty of using a monthly budget planner is that you've got all pertinent numbers and figures right in front of you, and can make much more informed decisions. For example, you can already see that paying over $100 per month for your cell phone is simply too much and it will prompt you to start shopping around for a new calling plan as soon as possible. In addition, you should probably get some quotes for new insurance policies to see if you can save any money that way. Then, if anything does change, you can simply add the new figures into your monthly budget planner to see how they affect the bottom line.

Getting finances back on track is never easy. It takes a lot of discipline and sacrifice but the peace of mind that comes with being financially stable is well worth any temporary hardships. As long as you stick to what I've outlined in your monthly budget planner, you will do just fine!

Unique Teacher Gifts

It has literally been decades since getting a teacher an apple was considered a good gift. Nowadays, the emphasis is on unique teacher gifts. If you're going to get someone a gift – particularly someone who has really inspired you – you should probably take the time to think of something that they don't have already or haven't even heard of if possible. Making teacher gifts unique is a great way to show that you have learned something from that class and really admire the one who taught you.

The key to unique teacher gifts is to think about what you know about that your teacher wouldn't. For example, for an English teacher you might get a current novel that he or she may be unfamiliar with. This can make a very unique teacher gift because it can allow the instructor to explore a new writer. English teachers in particular love discovering new authors, and they would love to see what their students are reading.

One of the most unique teacher gifts is a mix CD. I know that a lot of people are shy about sharing their music with their teachers, but your professor might...

Flu Shots

Each year I have neglected to get flu shots, but I have always gotten one for my young daughter. I don’t know why I don’t get one for myself, but I guess it is because I am often the only one within my group of friends that does not catch everything that comes along. I guess it means that I have a good immune system, in general, and I don’t get sick very easily. However, I do realize that these shots to prevent the flu are important for many, even if I don’t think I need one.

Luckily, I have not had the flu in a long time and my decision to not get flu shots did not hurt me. However, some have to have them, and those people may be in your home. When it comes to the elderly and children under 12, it is always a great idea to get this shot each year. They are the ones that are most prone to getting each and every thing that comes their way, and the flu shots can help them avoid some of this. They have an underdeveloped immune system, or one that has weakened...
