Swing Set Backyard

Do it yourself backyard work has always been one of my favorite things about spring. Whether I am adding new swing set accessories to my daughter's playground, working in the garden, building myself a tool shed, or doing some other activity, I love the chance to get out into the nice cool, sunny weather and enjoy myself. After being cooped up all winter, who wouldn't? Nonetheless, this year I had an unusually ambitious activity. We needed a new backyard swing set. Apparently, the swing set backyard had had to put up with one too many winters. It was old and decrepit, and it looked so frail that I didn't really trust it to support my daughter. Although it was my first project of the year, I was looking forward to building new backyard swing sets.

Flu Shots

Each year I have neglected to get flu shots, but I have always gotten one for my young daughter. I guess it means that I have a good immune system, in general, and I don’t get sick very easily. However, I do realize that these shots to prevent the flu are important for many, even if I don’t think I need one.

Luckily, I have not had the flu in a long time and my decision to not get flu shots did not hurt me. However, some have to have them, and those people may be in your home. When it comes to the elderly and children under 12, it is always a great idea to get this shot each year. They are the ones that are most prone to getting each and every thing that comes their way, and the flu shots can help them avoid some of this. They have an underdeveloped immune system, or one that has weakened...

Good Dogs For Children

The big day has finally arrived, a new member of the family will be joining your ranks. When you bring the little one home, you want to know you have made the right decision, are they going to fit in well with the other family members, will they be kind to everyone, will they be too rambunctious or too big? Of course by little one I am referring to a new dog in the family. These are questions that often come to mind when bringing home a new pet. While there are no guarantees that whatever dog you choose will connect instantly with your family and most important your children, considering a few different things will better ensure a proper match.

The first item to consider is the size of the dog you want to bring home. Canines vary in size from miniature two pound Chihuahua's up to three hundred pound English Mastiffs. While it seems like a very small dog might be best for very small children, think again. If the dog is too small it has a greater likelihood of being stepped on or hurt even by small children who are ten times their size....
